Update

So here's the latest after a long absence. The focus was still on writing feature length screenplays. I'm about to finish my fourth one in the last year.

I recently did an upgrade to a new imac and Canon camera. My current equipment is now 10 years old which is a lifetime in tech years.

An OEP meeting is planned soon.

I will be working on trying to finish up the 5th episode of Just Watch It. There are some sketches that still need to be edited and new ones shot to fill our 30 minute episode.

One more festival

A friend told me about a new local festival, The Show and Tell Film Festival. It will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 6:30-9:30 at the Impulse Theater (downstairs in the Wynkoop Brewery). So we submitted Love Bytes to it and we'll see what happens!

Update

Just a quick note on what we've been up to. I've been working on a new feature length script the last 3 months. It's an action comedy with a mad dash for some buried loot. We'll be meeting soon to see what shorts we want to shoot this year. Summer will be here before we know it.

Love Bytes and Shockerfest

Love Bytes will be playing Sunday, September 27th at 2pm.

Love Bytes accepted to ShockerFest!

Love Bytes has been accepted into the ShockerFest Film Festival! It takes place at the Galaxy 12 Theatre in Riverbank California, and runs from September 25-27.

Now in its 8th year, the ShockerFest International Film Festival has hosted films from over 30 different countries, screening approximately 1,000 films from hundreds of film makers. We are proud to say that over 80% of the feature films which have screened at ShockerFest have achieved distribution, with more contracts currently in negotiation.

ShockerFest Mission Statement: To provide a venue for screening the creative efforts of independent film makers in the genres of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror. To assist film makers in obtaining publicity and distribution for their endeavors and to provide a networking venue for any and all interested in the creation of film and digital productions.

AOF Schedule

The Action on Film Schedule is out and Love Bytes will by playing on Thursday, July 30th at the 4pm time block in the Academy 2 room.

Zero Film Festival Submission

We have submitted Love Bytes to the Zero Film Festival. This festival specializes in zero budget film making, which Love Bytes fits in perfectly. The 2nd annual festival runs from December 01, 2009 to December 15, 2009. They will notify who got in around November first.

This will probably conclude the festival submissions for Love Bytes. It's time to move on to new projects.

Love Bytes in the Action on Film Festival

We are continuing our relationship with the Action on Film Festival. They are very generous to past film makers who got in to their festival so Love Bytes will be playing at this years festival. It runs from July 24-31, 2009 in Pasadena California. More dates and details to come!

We have submitted Love Bytes to the SoCal Independent Film Festival . It runs from September 14, 2009 to September 23, 2009 . They will notify who got in around July 27th.

We have submitted Love Bytes to the ShockerFest International Film Festival. It runs from September 25, 2009 to September 27, 2009. They will notify who got in around August 1st.

Action On Film International Film Festival

Love Bytes has been submitted to the Action On Film International Film Festival. It runs from July 24, 2009 to July 31, 2009. They will notify who got in around July 10th.

TriMedia Film Festival

Love Bytes has been submitted to the TriMedia Film Festival. It runs from September 11, 2009 to September 13, 2009. They will notify who got in around July 15th.

Another Hole in the Head: Two Weeks of Fantasy, Sci Fi and Horror

Love Bytes has been submitted to Another Hole in the Head: Two Weeks of Fantasy, Sci Fi and Horror Festival. It runs from June 05, 2009 to June 18, 2009. They will notify who got in around May 31st.

Love Bytes and the EFP

Love Bytes will be showing at the Emerging Filmmakers Project on Thursday, March 19th at 8pm. They screen films by local filmmakers every third Thursday of the month. This is a great opportunity to watch Love Bytes on a bigger screen with other film enthusiasts. Hope to see you there!

We have submitted Love Bytes to the Chicago Horror Festival. It runs from September 26, 2009 to September 28, 2009 and they will notify who got in around August 20th.

Paranoia Horror and Sci-Fi Convention & Film Festival

We have submitted Love Bytes to the Paranoia Horror and Sci-Fi Convention & Film Festival. The 1st Annual runs from March 13, 2009 to March 15, 2009. It will take place on the Queen Mary ship. It is dry docked and notoriously haunted so a great place for a horror festival. They will notify who got in around March 1st.

2009 Great Lakes Independent Film Festival

We have submitted Love Bytes to the 2009 Great Lakes Independent Film Festival. It runs from September 24, 2009 to September 29, 2009 and they will notify who got in around September 12th.

Estes Park Film Festival

Love Bytes Submitted to the Audience Choice Film Festival

We have submitted Love Bytes to the Audience Choice Film Festival. This is run a little differently. From the site: Every month we will do a weekend of films. They will be viewed and an audience will get review cards and score your work. The films with the highest score will be featured at the end of the year in a three day film festival.

DONE!

We now have a picture lock on Love Bytes. All the sound work has been given the okay by Charlie and we are finished with it. We will now look at having some test audiences look at it, submit it to film festivals, and prepare a screening of it. Thanks to all involved for their long hours and dedication to completing this. All aspects of this look great and is probably our best short to date.

Love Bytes Update

The primary edit is done complete with credits. Now comes all the sound work that needs to be done.

Love Bytes Finishes Shooting

We have now completed all shooting for Love Bytes and now comes the long process of editing and polishing so it will be ready for the festival circuit.

Love Bytes Shoot Continued

We finished the other two scenes for Love Bytes so we have finished principle photography. It ended up snowing outside but we were able to make the last scene work. There are only a couple of pick up shots needed now.

Love Bytes

We successfully shot the action sequence to Love Bytes. The make up looked great, and the stunt effects worked like they were designed. It was a fun night for all but long. But I think everyone's hard work will pay off.

Festivus Festival

We went to the comedy shorts part of the Festivus Festival. They put on a good show and was even able to get some feedback from the KJWI News short we submitted. Most were funny, but one only had a couple of chuckles to it and we thought ours might have had less of a story to it but was funnier. Another one had some great moments to it but at over 20 minutes was just too long. Overall it was a good experience.

We also finished some of the stunt work that will be used for tomorrows shoot.

Love Bytes Starts Production

We started production on our new short Love Bytes. The first scene was shot in downtown Denver. It was a cold evening but we got all the shots we needed. We used a garden cart for a dolly and it worked great.

SXSW Festival Update

We did not get into the South By Southwest film festival.

KJWI Submitted to Estes Park

We have submitted KJWI News to the Estes Park Film Festival. It will run from September 11-14, 2008. They will notify who got in on August 1, 2008.

Festivus Festival Info

We have learned that KJWI News three did not get into the Festivus Film Festival. They have graciously offered two tickets though so we can better check out the competition.

Preproduction meeting for a new short

We have had our first preproduction meeting for a new short tentatively titled, "Love Bytes." This will be a horror short with some action elements to it. The meeting went very well and we went over all the idea's on how to do the make up effects and stunt elements for this one.

The story is about a demonic monster who makes the leap to the 21st century and uses the Internet to find his next prey.

Another Submission for KJWI News Break

We have submitted KJWI News Break to the Indie Spirit Film Festival. This first annual festival will be playing from April 25-27, 2008 in Colorado Springs. They will notify which shorts got in on March 5, 2008.

KJWI News submitted to SXSW Fest

Our short has been submitted to the South By Southwest Film Festival. It takes place in Austin, TX and is an independent friendly festival. It will run from March 7th-15th, 2008. They will notify who got in around February 12th.

World of Comedy International Film Festival Submission

KJWI News has been submitted to the World of Comedy International Film Festival located in Toronto Canada. This 6th Annual festival will run from March 05, 2008 to March 09, 2008. They will notify who got in around February 7th, 2008.

Vail Film Festival Submission

We have submitted our short KJWI News to the Vail Film Festival. This 5th Annual Festival will run from April 03, 2008 to April 06, 2008. They will notify who got in around February 1, 2008.

Break

Have to take a break working on video projects since the new Harry Potter book is out. I don't want to overhear any spoilers so I'm trying to get the book done sooner rather than later.

True or False in a Festival!

True or False has been accepted into the Action On Film Festival. This is where our comedy shorts: Dresses, Annoya, and Save Me had played last year. The festival is really good to the filmmakers who have had past projects accepted. They will continue to accept your new projects. It will be nice to have a wider audience for our little drama. It is at Long Beach Florida at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. True or False will be playing on Saturday, July 28th, Screen 3 at 11 pm. Congratulations to all involved!

Wedding

A buddy got married yesterday. I taped the wedding for him and will be spending a lot of time editing the 4 hours of footage I have for it. So probably no work on any film projects for a while. Then I have 3 graduation video's to put together from my trip. Whew.

Vacation

Just got back from vacation back east and in Orlando checking out the theme parks. I think I got some good stock footage from my trip. I didn't see any filming going on at Universal but I did plenty of my own. Good times.

JWI Episode 4 Done!

Just Watch It Episode 4 has been completed. There were several effects that needed to be done to complete a few of the sketches that have been taken care of and so our next half hour sketch comedy episode is finished.

KJWI News sent to Raindance Festival

We have submitted our new sketch comedy short KJWI News to the Raindance Film Festival. This is one of the premier independent film festivals in England. Since our comedy tends towards the Monty Python silliness, I thought this would be an excellent fit. They will announce who got in on August 15th.

Just Watch It Episode 3 Done!

Some odds and ends needed to be done to make our 3rd sketch comedy episode complete. The end credits was re-done on the Angry Reporter and Wedding sketches. Some Foley work was added to the Blood Bank sketch and some work was done on the opening.

Busy as a bee

A project that was started years ago is finally complete. There was some greenscreen work that needed to be done on our Killer Bee sketch and some artwork that is now completed and the sketch is done!

We shot some additional footage for Lannie's Crotch Pockets sketch and started to re-edit that one.

We submitted a copy of the KJWI News to the Toofy Film Festival. It will run from September 7-9th in Boulder Colorado. They will notify who got in by September 1st.

SuperMegaCab

We finished principle photography on another commercial spoof. This one was written by Lannie, and shot by a friend of his. It seemed to take forever but it was very fun.

I have also finished the greenscreen work for the KJWI news festival version.

Discovery Channel Spoof Contest

Well, they finally aired their special on February 25th, and we were not in it. I was not very impressed with some of the one's that were chosen. A friend also did a spoof that didn't make it into the show, and his was better than the one they chose. I also looked at what they had online and one of them was not very good. We had some very good feedback on our spoof so it is a mystery on why we didn't get on.

We have finished principle photography on the Jackcedrin sketch. It is a commercial spoof for a new headache medicine.

Mythbusters continued

There were copyrighted images in the background of the sketch that I've been working on blurring out and getting other music for it. This way we can put it in one of our sketch comedy episodes.

Still no word on the contest.

I've also been learning on how to create a DVD so I can start getting copies of projects out to people who have helped us out.

More older projects

Continued work is being done on a project that will feature Batman in it. I keep learning new things in the editing of it to add more effects and such to it. Some greenscreen work on it and other projects are not working well. I need some other software but I had to get Windows XP in order to get any of it to work. Very slow going.

KJWI festival

For our next round of festival submissions I decided to take 4 sketches with reporters on the scene and shoot some new newsdesk footage to tie them all together. We shot the greenscreen work for the newsdesk today.

Planet Poker Tour

There was just "something missing" on the sketch. I learned some new tools in editing that helped to make the sketch look more like the poker shows on TV. It is done and I think it turned out great. Great job by everyone who put in their creative time and energy into this.

I Need An Advance

We have finished principle photography for the I Need An Advance sketch. It went really well. Some natural lighting didn't quite work out as well since some clouds came in but it looked good. This is about someone who quits his job but is still getting his paycheck, but runs out of money and goes back to his employer to get an advance.

Working on older projects

There are many tweaks that needed to be done to some older projects that I've been working on. We forgot someone's name in the opening credits that has now been fixed. For the Blizzard sketch I have found a way to make our newscasts look more professional with some titles and such so I went back and added them to it.

I've been working on finishing the sound on the Swimming to Hawaii sketch with some background effects to make it sound more like it takes place on a beach.

Mythbusters Spoof

The Discovery Channel is having a spoof contest for their television shows. The winning entries will be aired on television in December. We chose to do a spoof of the popular show "Mythbusters," where they put myths and urban legends to the test. We wrote the script, shot it, and edited it in two weeks. It was crazy but I think the result is worth it.

Planet Poker Tour Sketch Completed

We have finished principle photography on the Planet Poker Tour sketch. It is about a new Texas Hold'em tournament with some disastrous results. It was written by Eileen Rhoadarmer and took months of preproduction work but I think the final results are worth it.

This is setting up a shot with the hosts of the Planet Poker Tour.

Sketches to show at the Action on Film Fest!

Three of our sketch comedy shorts; Annoya, Save Me, and Dresses, have been accepted to the Action On Film International Film Festival! This is the one where we didn't submit anything to but they requested our shorts after seeing them on the web. The festival runs from July 28th-30th and is located in Long Beach, CA.

We have learned that, "A Particle of Just Watch It," did not get into the Dragon*Con Independent Short Film Festival.

Dresses asked to be in a festival

We got an e-mail from a programmer with the Action On Film International Film Festival. One of their screeners saw Dresses online and have invited us to their festival. Each year they are mandated to seek out at least 30% of the films that will be shown at the festival as opposed to waiting for filmmakers to submit their work. They invite a lot so it's a first come first serve basis. We submitted Dresses today and we should know if we got in by July 7th. We'll get the word out if we get in.

Dresses on IFLIM!

We have just learned that our sketch "Dresses" has been accepted to IFLIM. The program director liked it so much that she put it under their new Featured Sketch section under comedy. You can view and vote for it here.

KBCO Contest

Our commercial idea didn't make it to the top 5. A couple of idea's that did I thought was really good. It is also not available to watch on the KBCO site. The only video's available now are the top 5.

Lights, Camera, KBCO!

The radio station KBCO at 97.3, is having a commercial contest called, "Lights, Camera, KBCO!" They are requesting a 30 second commercial spot for their radio station. We finally came up with an idea and was able to shoot, and edit it with no time to spare. We got it delivered today (it's due tomorrow by 5pm). They will be judged over the weekend and the top 5 will be aired at 4 pm on KUSA, channel 9 each day. Then viewers can vote and the winner gets a Cannon GL2 camcorder! It was extremely difficult to pull off in a short amount of time, but I'm glad we were able to get it finished and submitted. You should be able to view it shortly on the KBCO site. It's called, "Do YOU get it?"
