Me and My Writing and Film Work

I came from humble beginnings, I'm in a humble middle, and I'll just have to wait and see how it ends.  I'm not going to bore you with a lot of little details about my life.  I've always enjoyed books,  reading, and movies, but it probably wasn't until late high school that I realized I wanted to be a writer.  I bought my first camcorder a couple of years after and worked on writing short films.  Only one was made, a horror movie called, "Argoth."  It's not bad considering we didn't know anything, but there were plenty of mistakes made.  We learned a great deal from it.  I also wrote a feature movie called, "Time Warp."  I haven't looked at it in many years and can only imagine how bad it is.  That's probably enough backstory.

Since this is a writing and film-making site, I'll get down to all that I've written and worked on through One-Eyed Pictures.

Writing

Screenplays:

I've written 12 feature length screenplays (I'm not counting Time Warp).  Genres range from Comedy, Action, Horror, and Animation.  I have another animated movie fully plotted out and outlined, and it will probably be my next major writing project.  I have two more horror scripts plotted out and I'm working on the outline for them.  A have plenty of ideas, some fleshed out more than others, that will keep me busy writing for years to come.

Short Films:

I've written 16 short films.  I get the desire to write one every once in a while.  They are usually ideas that don't lend themselves to feature length (although I did turn one into a feature), and I try to write it as if we would be able to film it.  There's a comedy "Giant Robot" that I'd like to shoot next, and there's one I would love to do and would be a lot of fun, but also a lot of scheduling work, and I'm not sure we'd have the time to do it.

Sketch Comedy:

I've written over 70 comedy sketches.  I'm heavily influenced by Monty Python's Flying Circus and most of them have a silly, Python vibe to them.  I did most of them early on when I bought my second camcorder, but I haven't done as much lately since I've been focused on writing bigger projects.

Full Length Plays:

Okay, I haven't written a full length play yet, but I do have a couple of solid comedic ideas that I will get to one day.

Short Plays:

I did write one short play for a play-writing contest and thought about adapting one of my short films that would lend itself well to a play.

Television:

I wrote a spec script for an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."  I also co-wrote the pilot and the first episode for a half hour comedy show.  I have another comedy show I've thought about and an hour sci-fi drama that I've worked on some characters and plot.  I'm pretty excited about this one and I was influence by the excellent TV show "Lost."  I'll have to make some time to write up the pilot for this one.

Novels:

I'm still working on my first novel, it takes place during WWII.  I have a couple of drafts completed and I'm getting ready to send them out to friends/family and get their thoughts on it.  I have what will be my second novel fully plotted out and outlined.  I'm planning on adapting one of my screenplays for another and I have a few more ideas that I'd like to work on.

Short Stories:

I've written 14 short stories.  Most of them were written in college and I might revisit them and see if any are worth re-vising.  I've done a couple of them within the last year and I'll be working on getting them published.

Children Stories:

I've written two picture books and co-written a children's chapter book.  I have five more stores plotted out and outlined.  I'm planning on working on these when most of my time is spent looking for agents and publishers.

Video Projects

Short Films:

One-Eyed Pictures has produced three short films.
Argoth -
True or False -
Love Bytes -

Sketch Comedy:

We have put together five half-hour episodes of sketch comedy called, "Just Watch It."  I have a newer camera now, we re-shot the opening, and I have plenty of material for an episode six, but again it comes down to scheduling the time to get us all back together.  I'm hoping we'll get this done soon.

Other:

We've worked on friends' various projects including the feature horror film, "Night Things," from Last Night of April Productions.

Marketing

A lot of my marketing work can be seen on my marketing portfolio page.  I've designed some websites, written digital and print ads, worked on many social media channels, and branding for several sites.

I've also written 25 commercial spec scripts and filmed one for a demo.

That's about it.  This will be continuously updated as more projects are completed as I'm working on something every day.
