More older projects

Continued work is being done on a project that will feature Batman in it. I keep learning new things in the editing of it to add more effects and such to it. Some greenscreen work on it and other projects are not working well. I need some other software but I had to get Windows XP in order to get any of it to work. Very slow going.

No news on the Discovery Channel Spoof Contest.

KJWI festival

For our next round of festival submissions I decided to take 4 sketches with reporters on the scene and shoot some new newsdesk footage to tie them all together. We shot the greenscreen work for the newsdesk today.

Planet Poker Tour

There was just "something missing" on the sketch. I learned some new tools in editing that helped to make the sketch look more like the poker shows on TV. It is done and I think it turned out great. Great job by everyone who put in their creative time and energy into this.

Advance Continued

Another Advance photo.

I Need An Advance

We have finished principle photography for the I Need An Advance sketch. It went really well. Some natural lighting didn't quite work out as well since some clouds came in but it looked good. This is about someone who quits his job but is still getting his paycheck, but runs out of money and goes back to his employer to get an advance.

Working on older projects

There are many tweaks that needed to be done to some older projects that I've been working on. We forgot someone's name in the opening credits that has now been fixed. For the Blizzard sketch I have found a way to make our newscasts look more professional with some titles and such so I went back and added them to it.

I've been working on finishing the sound on the Swimming to Hawaii sketch with some background effects to make it sound more like it takes place on a beach.

Mythbusters Spoof

The Discovery Channel is having a spoof contest for their television shows. The winning entries will be aired on television in December. We chose to do a spoof of the popular show "Mythbusters," where they put myths and urban legends to the test. We wrote the script, shot it, and edited it in two weeks. It was crazy but I think the result is worth it.

Planet Poker Tour Sketch Completed

We have finished principle photography on the Planet Poker Tour sketch. It is about a new Texas Hold'em tournament with some disastrous results. It was written by Eileen Rhoadarmer and took months of preproduction work but I think the final results are worth it.

This is setting up a shot with the hosts of the Planet Poker Tour.

Dresses asked to be in a festival

We got an e-mail from a programmer with the Action On Film International Film Festival. One of their screeners saw Dresses online and have invited us to their festival. Each year they are mandated to seek out at least 30% of the films that will be shown at the festival as opposed to waiting for filmmakers to submit their work. They invite a lot so it's a first come first serve basis. We submitted Dresses today and we should know if we got in by July 7th. We'll get the word out if we get in.

KBCO Contest

Our commercial idea didn't make it to the top 5. A couple of idea's that did I thought was really good. It is also not available to watch on the KBCO site. The only video's available now are the top 5.

Lights, Camera, KBCO!

The radio station KBCO at 97.3, is having a commercial contest called, "Lights, Camera, KBCO!" They are requesting a 30 second commercial spot for their radio station. We finally came up with an idea and was able to shoot, and edit it with no time to spare. We got it delivered today (it's due tomorrow by 5pm). They will be judged over the weekend and the top 5 will be aired at 4 pm on KUSA, channel 9 each day. Then viewers can vote and the winner gets a Cannon GL2 camcorder! It was extremely difficult to pull off in a short amount of time, but I'm glad we were able to get it finished and submitted. You should be able to view it shortly on the KBCO site. It's called, "Do YOU get it?"

Sketches on the IFC Media Lab

We submitted 5 sketches to the IFC Media Lab and they were accepted. The highest rated ones will be aired on the Independent Film Channel TV station. So it's up to us and all of our friends to rate them high (or at least as high as you think, I think more than 3.25 which is where they currently are) to try and make this happen. You can find them at:

Save Me: http://medialab.ifc.com/film_detail.jsp?film_id=1024
Cain: http://medialab.ifc.com/film_detail.jsp?film_id=1029
Dresses: http://medialab.ifc.com/film_detail.jsp?film_id=1030
Annoya: http://medialab.ifc.com/film_detail.jsp?film_id=1012
American Doctor Online: http://medialab.ifc.com/film_detail.jsp?film_id=1027&list=1
Or you can just do a search for the name. You do have to set up an account with them to log in and vote but it's not difficult and they don't spam you. Mmmmm. Spam. Thanks to you all!

American Doctor Online on TV

Our friend Jason Quinn has just informed us that he saw the American Doctor Online sketch (or at least our 45 second version of it) on UPN 20 last night during South Park! The UPN website says there is a schedule that lists when they will air the sketches. I couldn't find it before so I thought they might not be airing them yet. So I e-mailed them to try and get that info so I can post it up here for all of our great supporters of independent film. Thanks again to Jason for bringing it up. Once I get more info about it I'll post it.

Sketches sent to UPN 20

UPN20 is hosting short videos and some will be played on TV. They can't be longer than 45 seconds so it was a challenge trying to get them down that short. Two of them were broken up into parts since there wasn't any way to get them that short and still make sense. We submitted Storytime, Dresses, Save Me, American Doctor Online, Annoya, and Cain. Special thanks to Erik Meredith for bringing this to our attension!

A Particle of Just Watch It and Moviefone

A Particle of Just Watch It has been sent to the Moviefone Short Film Festival. It is a year round showcase and competition that highlights the best and brightest of short-format film programming from around the world. They will notify who got in around 01-Oct-2006.

A Particle of Just Watch It sent to ManiaTV

A Particle of Just Watch It has been submitted to the ManiaTV.com LIVE Internet Film Festival. This is where we had Annoya play and where it won Best Commercial Spoof. They will notify who got in approximately 31-May-2006.

Sketches submitted to Ifilm

In an effort to get a wider audience for our sketches, we have submitted our first group of five to Ifilm. If you're not aware of them, they post short films in all types of genres. It's a great way to get a large number of people to see your work. We should know in about a month whether they accepted any or not. Then we'll try another 5. If we get any in I wanted to space them out a little bit so we can hopefully keep new stuff coming into them.

The first 5 sketches are: Annoya, Cain, American Doctor Online, Save Me, and Dresses.
